Pull-Start Pictures is a Maine-based production company owned and operated by Cecily Pingree & Jason Mann. We are primarily focused on feature-length documentary film projects, but we have extensive experience in promotional and other forms of factual video production, narrative film projects, and more.

Cecily Pingree
Cecily Pingree is an independent filmmaker who began her film work with Big Mouth Productions as an assistant editor and production assistant on Arctic Son and Beyond the Steps: Alvin Ailey American Dance.
She has worked on stories ranging from the controversy surrounding media consolidation, to rural health in Africa, to fishing and farming issues in Maine.
She has also done commissioned work for clients such as The New York Times, Angela Adams Design and the Small Planet Institute. Cecily also teaches video classes to youth.

Jason Mann
Jason Mann has worked as a cinematographer and editor on numerous documentary projects. Most recently, he was director of photography and co-producer of Lost Souls (Animas Perdidas), which aired nationally on Independent Lens in 2010. He has also worked at Compass Light as an editor on the Discovery HD Theater series Sunrise Earth.
He has also worked as a gaffer, dolly grip and key grip on film projects in Maine, Massachusetts and New York City.

Lindsay Mann
Lindsay Mann is a director & cinematographer shooting shorts, commercials, and music videos in New York City since 2005. He has worked for The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, and Vice Magazine. His cinematography has appeared at SXSW and the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker showcase at Cannes. His commercial work plays regularly on cable channels across the greater NYC area. Lindsay has shot Bruce Springsteen in Asbury Park, assisted Haskell Wexler, ASC on a feature, and ran film on Martin Scorsese’s documentary “Shine a Light” about The Rolling Stones. Lindsay studied Directing and Cinematography at Boston University. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, but their hearts reside in Maine.
Lindsay’s production company, Beechwood Film, is based in New York City.
